Adynaton vs. Hyperbole

Hyperbole: "I had a ton of homework."

Adynaton [ah-DYN-ah-ton] (impossibilia): "когда рак на горе свистнет".

Bathos: "The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don't."

Meiosis: using "the pond" for the Atlantic Ocean, "It's just a flesh wound".
